Obituary

VERONA- Kenneth G. Kittelsen, age 101, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. He was born on a farm in rural Albany.

Ken attended Albany High School, and a highlight of his senior year was representing the Green County Area at Badger Boys State, a facsimile government to be executed like a state government which was held in Milwaukee. This was an extremely good educational experience, where he learned about making budgets, investments and executed aws.

After graduation in 1941, he studied at the UW-Madison for two years, however, the death of his father forced him to assist his older brother back on the family farm.

Ken farmed for several more years before moving to Madison with his family in 1958. In Madison, he was employed by First National Bank (now U. S. Bank). He held several positions at the bank including being an officer during his 33 years of service.

After retiring from the bank in 1992, he was employed by several companies, some part-time, however he always remained active and energetic.

Ken was an active singer, participating in several quartets. He was also an active church member and treasurer for two churches for many years.

Kenneth is survived by his daughters, Joyce (Bill) Rader, Julie (Ken Mayer) Sills, Jean (Fred) Ayers and Judy Sills-Olvera; son, William (Ann) Sills; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet; parents, Olen and Winifred (Atkinson) Kittelsen; two brothers, Elwyn and Rodney; a son, David; and a daughter, Kay.

A funeral service will be held at UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 500 Park St., Albany, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. A graveside service take place at HILLCREST CEMETERY, 600 Albany St., Albany, at 12 noon on Tuesday. A luncheon will follow back at the church. A visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday.

My condolences to the Kittelsen family. I met Ken many years ago when he would bring his car into the dealership. He was such a pleasure to talk with and I enjoyed learning something every time we crossed paths. Ken’s intelligence and brilliance well into his 90’s was amazing. Rest in Paradise, my friend 💛 -April Ossmann

Dear Ken, we sure sang some beautiful music together in our life time. You, Roger, Jim and myself had some wonderful times performing together. I know you'll find an even better quartet up there ! Love, Bob & Diane Schumacher
