Harold Nicholas Weber

CROSS PLAINS - Harold Nicholas Weber, age 81, of Cross Plains, passed away peacefully at Agrace HospiceCare with his loving family by his side. He entered into his heavenly home on Friday, Oct. 20, 2023. He was born on May 1, 1942, to Leonard and Regina (Esser) Weber and lived his entire life on the family farm. He loved working on the farm alongside his family and many other people who worked for him that he cared for deeply.

Harold graduated from Middleton High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army, 44th General Hospital Army Unit in 1961, and he served in the Army reserves. He went on to marry his wife, Sue (Wornson) Weber, the love of his life, April 16, 1966, and they had 57 beautiful years with each other. Together, they were blessed with three children, Debbie (Chad) Hollfelder, Linda Weber and Janet (Dan) Biefeld. They have one granddaughter, Mandi Hollfelder, who they adore.  

“Happy Birthday, Happy Anniversary and Blessings Always - I will be singing to you all from Heaven” was a message Harold wanted to share with all of you. This was a huge part of his legacy as he had a database of over 1,000 plus friends and family.  

Harold liked to tell people his middle name was “Nicholas,” which was passed down from his Dad and Grandpa. He would share with a chuckle that he didn’t want them to mix him up with the Saint, but he was working on it.

Harold shared his love in so many other countless ways, including sharing his enthusiasm of the beautiful farm that overlooked Cross Plains with others to enjoy for walks, camping, etc. He loved mowing and creating areas that highlighted God’s beauty for others to enjoy. He and Sue loved spending time together in their camper up the hill and seeing deer and enjoying fires with family and friends. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his grand dogs, Ruby and Presley. Harold also had a memorable singing voice that he shared by singing in the St. Francis Xavier choir for many years, starting when he was in eighth grade. He was also involved with Silvertones, which sang at nursing homes and other places to bring joy. Harold was passionate about his work with the Knights of Columbus (KCs), leading the coordination and prayers of the rosary for KC members and others prior to funerals. He also transported corneas for the Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin.  

He is survived by his wife; three children; two sons-in-law; granddaughter; his brothers, Ed (Kathy) and Joe and John (Janice); sister-in-law, Ruth Ann Weber; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jerome and Paul; and sisters, Mary Ann (Bud) Volenec and Betty (Bill) Armstrong.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. FRANCIS XAVIER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2947 Thinnes St., Cross Plains, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023. Burial will follow the service with lunch afterwards in the fellowship hall. Visitation will be held at the church from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 27, 2023, and again Saturday from 9 a.m. until the start of the Mass, with a Knights of Columbus Rosary starting at 10:30 a.m.

Harold’s family would like to thank all the family and friends that visited and prayed for Harold, Sue and family this last year. Additionally, thank you to all the staff at Meriter, UW-Madison, and Agrace HospiceCare for their exceptional, loving care of Harold.  

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Harold’s honor to: Mazomanie Fire Department Honor Guard (a group that honors other emergency personnel around the state of Wisconsin); OR cancer research and awareness that the family will identify following Harold’s battle with bone cancer.
