Grace D. McGreal

MADISON–Grace McGreal passed away Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016. She was born June 1, 1917, in Brooklyn, NY, to Charles and Marie Rotunda. Grace was married to Frank McGreal from 1944 until his death in 1978. Together, they raised two daughters, in Franklin Square, Long Island, NY, where Grace lived for over 50 years. In addition to working part-time until she was 79 years old, Grace was involved with many social and civic organizations including serving on the county election board for over 30 years, and participating in the local widows/widowers club, serving a term as president. Following the passing of her husband, Grace's extended family of loving nephews and their children would routinely call, visit often and ensure that she and her daughter Dorice never spent the holidays alone. Grace also enjoyed the company of her many friends, going on outings, playing cards, or just gathering for tea and conversation. After the unfortunate passing of Dorice in 2004, Grace decided to live closer to Janice. At age 89, Grace courageously left the comfort of her home, community and many friends to begin a new life 1000 miles away in Madison. She lived at Coventry Village for nine years then moved to All Saints Assisted Living. During these years she treasured the time spent with her daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She looked forward to watching "the kids" grow up. Her immediate and extended family always felt her love and will miss her dearly. Funeral and burial services were held in Madison, Wis.
