Joan was so influential in our daughter's development as a dancer and person. She not only gave her the "gift of dance," but also a nurturing environment at the studio that has resulted in life-long friendships. We delighted in watching our daughter and the rest of the dancers grow and mature into young adults. Joan and Studio One were instrumental in that development.
Joan both tormented and thrilled me with her father-daughter dances every two years. The practices were a testament to her patience and perseverance. I will always cherish the gift Joan afforded me of dancing with my daughters.
We will be thinking of you tonight while we watch Julia dance in a recital at the UW. Thank you Joan, your memory will live on for all of the SODS alumni and their parents.

Joan had a special talent in her dancing and her ability to teach and love children. I will always be grateful to her for her love and encouragement as she helped girls grow to women through dance and teamwork.

Joan was my favorite dance teacher as a teenager. She was such an extraordinary person... so sweet, generous, and fun to be around. I have such fond memories of dancing in her production of Cinderella. Her encouragement and belief in me was so appreciated; I've always thought of her as a mentor and a role model. I am incredibly saddened to hear about her passing, and I will never forget her. My deepest condolences go to her family and loved ones.
