Obituary
MADISON- Jeanne L. Neesvig, age 86, died on Monday, Aug. 22, 2016, following a long journey with dementia. She was born Aug. 24, 1929, in Madison, the daughter of John and Frieda (Schellin) Massey. Jeanne married Robert Neesvig on Dec. 31, 1965, at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Dubuque, Iowa. A life-long Madison resident, Jeanne worked as a personnel specialist for the Wisconsin Department of Health and Social Services for 38 years, retiring in 1989. During her career she was known by her co-workers for serving others with a warm smile, a friendly personality and a commitment to high standards. Jeanne loved to travel and during their retirement years, she and Robert enjoyed numerous cruises as well as trips to Asia, Africa, Australia and many European countries. Jeanne is survived by their combined family including children, Lynne (Thomas) Svetnicka, Edward (Marilyn) Neesvig, Kristine (Paul) Ashe and Petra MacLeod (Roderick Hardy); grandchildren, Natalie (Daniel) Hall, Anna Svetnicka, Pamela (Wade) Crary, Stephanie (Rick) Vanhoff, Craig (Shana) Neesvig, Tori (Dan) Holtz, Robert (Kenyatta) Holte, Adam (Angie) MacLeod and Jess (Bess) MacLeod; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson. Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; and her brother, John "Jack" Massey. Funeral services will be held at ST. STEPHEN'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5700 Pheasant Hill Rd., Monona, at 11 a.m., on Friday, Aug. 26, 2016. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, Oakwood Foundation or Agrace HospiceCare would be welcome. Jeanne's family would like to thank the staffs of Oakwood Village East-Oakwood Knoll and Oakwood Village West-Hebron Oaks for over nine years of compassionate care. Sincere condolences... I worked with Jeanne years ago at DHSS and even remember her retirement party- at the Elks Club, I believe. She was a dear, and we all loved her. I hadn't kept up with her since we both left the State, and I'm sorry to hear she struggled in later years. She was a smart, dear and lovely colleague. God Bless you all. ~ Karen Rose McNett Gredler
