Obituary

MADISON-David R. Irps passed away on Sunday, Aug. 21, 2016. David was an absolute lover of life. He was a passionate storyteller, and never failed to have the whole room laughing. David enjoyed traveling the world with his wife Sherri, as well as fishing, shooting, and the outdoors. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and we appreciate his service from 1976 - 1980. David was a wonderful husband and provider. He put so much heart and effort into creating special memories with his wife, children, grandchildren, and his family. It is apparent how many lives David truly touched by the consistent visitors he was surrounded with during his courageous fight with cancer. He was loved by so many and their support and kindness during his difficult time was extraordinary. David's signature laugh will be missed by everyone who knew him. A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 12 Noon until the time of the service on Saturday. David is survived by his wife, Sherri L. Irps; children, Kristin M. Fehrenbach and Noah D. Fehrenbach; grandchildren, Tatum S. Fehrenbach and Maysa L. Clemens; brother, Dale R. (Barbara) Irps; and nephews, Erik D. Irps and Kyle L. Irps. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale R. and Beverly A. Irps; and nephew, Mark J. Irps. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to UW Carbone Cancer Center or Agrace HospiceCare. Thank you to Agrace HospiceCare, Meriter Hospital, and UW Carbone Cancer Center for taking such good care of "X-ray Dave". We will always love and miss you David, you were so special to all of us. As one of the radiologists, I was able to work with Dave at both UW and Meriter. He was always smiling - always happy. I will miss him.

Dave's positive attitude and determination through his battle with cancer was truly remarkable. If we all had his constant positive personality, the world would be a better place. In all my years of knowing him, I can't recall a single time he looked at the negative outcome of a situation. We all lost a good one. Rest peacefully Dave. My condolences to Sherri and the entire family.

My sympathy to all who knew David. I knew him only as a child when I babysat he and Dale. Great family, I enjoyed my time with them so many years ago. Yvonne Hunt Rieder
