Obituary

MADISON-Jerome K. Kohl, age 88, of Monona, was reunited with his best girl, Della, on Friday, Aug. 19, 2016. He was born on Jan. 7, 1928, in Madison, Wis., the son of Jennes and Annastasia (Cassidy) Kohl. Jerry graduated from Madison East High School in 1946 and proudly served in the U.S. Navy. He was united in marriage to Adella Popp on Oct. 21, 1950. They had a beautiful and devoted relationship that has been an example to their children and grandchildren. Jerry worked for Wisconsin Telephone Company, retiring after 30+ years. He was a member of Pioneers of America. Jerry enjoyed ice fishing, especially perch, and was an avid Green Bay Packers and Badgers fan. He also enjoyed pheasant hunting in Nebraska with his brothers and picnics with his family. Jerry is survived by his daughter, Kathy Edwards (James Brown) of Monona; sons, Mike Kohl of Baraboo and Dave (Christine) Kohl of Wautoma; brothers, John (Regina) Kohl of Madison and James (Donna) Kohl of Cross Plains; two granddaughters, Stacy (Michael) Rich and Kristine (Chris) Wright; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Della; and brother, Patrick. Private services will be held per Jerry's request. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John's Catholic Church in Waunakee or Agrace HospiceCare. Special thank you to Jerry's brother, John, for his weekly visits and to the staff at Waunakee Manor for their wonderful care and for loving dad's smile. May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind always be at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, and rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand. Please accept our sincerest condolences for the loss of your father. May he be at peace with your mom, Della. Your parents were role models, and I respected them so much. They were a great couple, and I miss them both. I enjoyed it when they came to visit with Mom and Dad--maybe they are all visiting now--catching up on days gone by. May you find comfort and strength in family and friends, but also in your memories of time well spent with him. Barb (Popp) Taylor
