Obituary
MADISON/MCFARLAND-Marie F. Whitehorse, age 89, of McFarland, passed away peacefully on Monday, Sept. 12, 2016, surrounded by her family. She was born on May 11, 1927, in Volo, Ill., the daughter of Henry and Mary (Pitzen) Stoffel. She married Walter Whitehorse on Feb. 14, 1947, in Volo, Ill. Marie worked several jobs and was the driving force behind the founding of the family business, Chief Auto Parts in 1948. She was known as a savvy, tenacious businesswoman who wouldn't take guff from anybody. Her first priority was always her family, including her extended family, and was a loving provider to them. Marie was the mainstay of their 70-year marriage. She enjoyed bowling, going to their cottage, going to trap and skeet shoots with Walter, and loved to dance. Marie is survived by her husband, Walter; children, Dennis, Daniel, Kenneth (Susan), Jim (Marilee) and Ruth Ann Whitehorse-Burns; eight grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son-in-law, Tom Burns; and father and mother-in-law, Ralph and Annie Whitehorse. A Funeral Service will be held at CROSSPOINT CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE, 5011 Commercial Ave., Madison at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 16, 2016 with the Rev. Lucas Cole and the Rev. Sam Starnes presiding.
