Walter Bolssen

MONONA-Walter E. Bolssen, age 98, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2016, at Heritage Assisted Living in Monona. He was born on May 17, 1918, in Duck Creek (Green Bay), the son of Philip and Clara (Dunks) Bolssen. Walter was united in marriage to Wilma Robb and they have been married for 72 years. He retired from the U.S. Navy after serving for 22 years. Walter then worked for the Madison Metropolitan School District for 25 years. He enjoyed golfing and playing cards. Walter is survived by his wife, Wilma; children, Linda Tank, Dianne Morrissey, and Steve (Margo Kleinfeld) Bolssen; four grandchildren, Patrick (Pamela) Morrissey, Shannon (Christopher) Wood, Amy (Sean) O'Brien, and Christopher (Jennifer) Tank; nine great-grandchildren, Rachel, Connor, Killian, Rece, Kathryn, Camden, Abigail, Samuel, and Clara; sister-in-law, Annabel (Mel) Ring; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Carol Bolssen and Elaine Naze; and daughter, Suzanne Bolssen. A private service will be held for the immediate family.
