Obituary

MIDDLETON-George Albert Squires passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2016, at the age of 90.  He was born on May 6, 1926 in Ruby, WI, to George and Wilhelmina (Venzke) Squires.  Of his 9 brothers and sisters, Darlene Sherritt, of Ohio, survives.   On Nov. 20, 1949, George married Anne Beadle and they enjoyed 44 years together before Anne passed away.  On Aug. 20, 1994, he married Emily Keller and enjoyed 18 years of marriage before her passing. George is survived by his five children: Sue (John) Estes, Steve (Linda) Squires, and Rob (Kim) Squires, all of Middleton, Scott (Linda) Squires, Studio City, CA and Michael (Christine) Squires, Seattle, WA.  Seven grandchildren Ryan (Patricia) Squires, Waunakee, Valerie (Dylan) Porter, Monrovia, CA, Ross (Megan) Squires, Patrick Estes, Laura (fiancé Ovi Fernandez) Estes, Chandler Squires, and Anne Squires, all of Middleton, as well as two beautiful great granddaughters, Liliana and McKinley. From a modest beginning to starting two successful businesses at the age of 55, George lived a full and interesting life.  After serving as Cpl with the US Army in India during WWII, George attended Cal Aero Tech in Glendale, CA.  Returning home to WI, George farmed for 7 years, then made a career change to Sales/Marketing Management, and after 25 years with the same manufacturer, he then started two of his own companies. An entrepreneur and inventor, George holds multiple patents.  George is best known for his ability to make others laugh and for the many stories he shared over the years. He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends, including his special friend Florence.  Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL & CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Ave., Middleton at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 2, 2016. Friends may call on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the service.  Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Monona.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Agrace Hospice.  Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

Mike, Sue, Scott, Steve, Rob and families, Just heard about your dad's passing. So sorry to hear that. He was such a great man and reminded me so much of my dad Marvin. I remember all of you visiting us in South Dakota when we were growing up. Too bad we couldn't have gotten together more often! Dear Mike,Sue,Steve,Scott, Rob, and families, We are so sorry to hear about the passing of Uncle George. He reminded me so much of my dad Marvin. My Dad was the first of the brothers to pass away and your dad is the last of the brothers. Take comfort in the wonderful memories of him and hold on to the love and support of family and friends. Mike, Sue, Scott, Steve and Rob. I was sorry to hear about the passing of Uncle George your father. He was such a great story teller just like my father Marvin was.
