I remember Don from the days I worked at Oakwood Village. I had the privilege of providing nursing services to both Don and his lovely wife, Bettina. I remember a lunch date at their home. I also recall that his favorite cookies were Keebler Pecan Sandies. He brought them to me as a treat and I remember returning the favor. Quiet but classy man. You couldn't help but love him.

The Bruner family send their warm regards to all of Don`s family. He was a friend of our parents Helen and Erv starting in 1942. He and Bettina were there to welcome and support Helen when she arrived at Oakwood Village. Helen appreciated going to League of Women Voter meetings with Don and his long term shared dedication to political and social activism. His devotion to their long friendship meant so much to her. We will remember his deep and gentle caring.

To Liz, Mike and family, Words cannot express how sorry I am for the loss of your father, grandfather, and my dearest friend Don. I had the extreme pleasure to care for Don for almost 5 years. Through the ups and downs, Don always had a smile. From the talks, to the walks, or just sitting quietly taking in a documentary in his room, I always learned something from Don. He taught me love, patience and to embrace each day as if it were the last. I feel so blessed to have known Don and I will cherish my memories forever. Rest in peace my friend. Jill Lanham

Dear Liz, Michael and Family,
I was so sorry to hear about Don's passing. I remember your first trip to Canada in the late sixties when I met you both, Don and your aunt. I will never forget my trip to Poland with Don and my mother when we visited Bialystok. I am sure it brought back many memories for him. We are unable to attend the service this weekend but will be coming to Madison next month to see you. With our deepest sympathy. Cousins Randy and Vivian, Harris, Carly, Bram, Perri and Loni Maxwell
