Obituary
OREGON-Marian E. Abrams "Grandma A", age 94, passed away on Aug. 15, 2016, at Evansville Manor in Evansville, Wis., with her family by her side. She was born on Nov. 8, 1921, in Ipswitch, SD., the daughter of Ernie and Cora (Koschkee) Ellis. Marian moved to Mt. Hope, Wis., and graduated from Mt. Hope High School where she met the love of her life, Chester Abrams. Chester and Marian were married in 1940 at the Little Brown Church in Iowa. Marian and Chester farmed the family farm in Mt. Hope where they raised their two daughters, Karen and Cheryl. In 1956 the family moved to Oregon, Wis. and Marian began working for the State of Wisconsin, DHHS. She retired after 26 years. After retirement Chester and Marian traveled the U.S. in their motor home and they could often be seen riding their bicycle built for two around town. She enjoyed her daily paper and doing the puzzles, she loved reading, decorating for the holidays (especially Christmas) and, until recently walking on her treadmill. She enjoyed being with her family most of all. Marian was a member of People's United Methodist Church and Oregon Chapter 49 of Eastern Star. Marian is survived by her loving daughters, Karen Owen and Cheryl (Dave) Mortensen; the "best grandchildren" ever, Jeff (Tami) Owen, AmyJo (Phil) Gillingham, Mark (Ruth) Mortensen, Dea Marie (Bob) Schaller and Marsha (Sean)Tesar; and her pride and joy, her seven great-grandchildren, Derek and Justin Owen, Tyler and Shania Mortensen, Emily, Samantha and Nick Schaller. Grandma loved keeping up with all of their activities. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Marian was preceded in death by her loving husband, Chester in 2006; her parents; a sister; and two brothers. A celebration of her life will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL HOME, 1150 Park St., Oregon, on Thursday, Aug. 18, 2016, at 12 Noon, with the Rev. Gail Brown presiding. A luncheon will be provided immediately following the service. Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home. A private burial will take place at Prairie Mound cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Evansville Manor and Agrace HospiceCare for their wonderful care given to mom. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to People's United Methodist Church, Agrace HospiceCare or a charity of their choice. "Love you More Mom." I too am a Mt. Hope alum. You have my deepest sympathies. This brings back many memories for me. The Ellis/Abrams family were a part of my early life. I remember the cold winter mornings and Ernie would be delivering the milk door to door and if you didn't get it in quick enough it would freeze and the cap with the cream would come freezing out the top of the glass bottle. A wonderful family and I am sure you will miss your mother greatly. Roger Reukauf

Marian was my next door neighbor since I moved to Oregon 5 years ago. She was such a delightful lady.
I will miss our chats when I would bring baked goodies over for her to enjoy. She was so blessed to have a thoughtful and caring family who visited daily. I will miss her. God bless all her family whom she loved dearly.

I am so sorry to hear about Marian. I will miss our weekly visits, when I delivered meals to her on Friday. Seeing her open the door and greet me was always a happy moment. We shared the high school graduations this year of my granddaughter and her great grandson. I will miss her! My thoughts and prayers go out to Marian's family. God Bless. Sue Galloway
