MARIA
Say it loud and there is music playing
Say it soft and it's almost like praying *
Maria Jeanette Schreier passed away on Monday, August 8, 2016 surrounded by her loving family at UW Hospital from injuries suffered in an accident. Maria graduated from Middleton High School and received her undergraduate and Doctor of Law (J.D.) degrees from the University of Wisconsin. She owned and operated her own law firm until she retired due to health issues. Maria proudly served her country in the United States Air Force. Maria is survived by her Mother, Jeanette Schreier Semprini; Sister, Michelle Schreier (Dale Jacobson); Brother, Mark Schreier; Nieces Haley Schreier, Sadie Schreier-Jacobson, and Annalise Schreier; Nephews Evan and Hayden Schreier; and her furry canine daughter, Polly. She was proceeded in death by her stepfather, Aaron (Cobe) Johnson, Jr.; her maternal grandparents, Edna and John Barkley; and her paternal grandparents, Marge and Earl Schreier. Maria adored her nieces and nephews, thrived on distance running when she was healthy enough to run, and enjoyed horror and crime movies and books. She loved all animals and all animals instantly loved her. She dreamed of some day owning an acreage where she could take in and care for any and all abandoned and/or abused animals. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to the Dane County Humane Society – information is available at https://www.giveshelter.org/tribute-gifts.html or a donation can be made to the family. Memorial Open House to honor Maria will be held on Wednesday, August 17 at the America Legion Hall, 2217 American Legion Drive, Cross Plains, WI from 6:00 – 8:00 PM with a brief program at 7:00.

I have many great memories of Maria from our dancing in the rain at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio Texas, to wearing our dress blues during Halloween on State Street in Madison (laughing so hard because everyone thought we were airline stewardest) and the great memories our three-week trip to California. Maria has always made me laugh. We always brought the fun in everything we did. If ever I hear the word smegma....I always think of Maria. May you rest in peace. I love you Maria!

Maria, we had such a good time together when I was living temporarily in Madison at the Staybridge awaiting my brothers transplant. You made the time so much more enjoyable by introducing me to some of your family members at your sister's house on Easter, shopping together, going out for lunch and dinner and sharing your precious Polly with me. Those 4 mile (or more) walks with her got me in the best shape Of my life. Your were so generous to share her with me so I wouldn't be so lonely for my own little pup, Lily. You will always be in my heart.
Linda Cannon.

Although we have not seen each other for many years, I feel your deep sorrow. Losing a child is a loss no one can understand except someone who has gone through it. I cannot identify with you nor can I even imagine. I didn't know your daughter, but I did know her mother and offer her all my thoughts and prayers. God bless you and your family .

I only met Maria one time. It was Halloweeen a couple years ago. We rung Mark's doorbell In anticipation of Trick or treating with he and his kids. This woman answered the door, whom we did not recognize. "Does Mark have a girlfriend he's not telling us about", we thought at first.. This was Maria. She was fabulous. Dressed for the occasion in a patient gown,, as she quickly showed us with excitation the open back and fake butt cheeks!! She was hilarious! Caught my eye with her costume choice as a ICU RN. This is the one time I met Maria, and she definitely is someone I will always remember. Mark, Evan, Hayden, Annalise, and all, I am so sorry for your tragic loss of Maria. May your memories of her give you peace...

Maria was a blessing in my life. I will forever remember her beautiful smile and soul. Her and I shared many deep things about ourselves very quickly after we met. Kindered spirits share a level of understanding that few can understand. Maria and I are kindered spirits. Jeanette I have lost a daughter. I know the pain, emptyness, and longing. If you need me I am here. GOD bless...GOD is good.
