Jerome Randall Meder

MADISON-Jerome R. "Jerry" Meder, age 77, went to his Heavenly Home on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016, at Agrace HospiceCare after a long illness. He was born on March 9, 1939, in Hartington, Neb., the son of Walter and Inga Meder. Jerry married Judith Ulvestad on Nov. 24, 1962, in DeForest. He worked for the Department of Transportation for 37 years and was a longtime active member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Jerry enjoyed woodworking, fishing and could fix anything. He especially treasured his time spent with his grandchildren. Jerry is survived by his wife, Judy; daughter, Diane (David) Krszjzaniek; sons, Randy (Margaret) Meder, and Mike (Lisa) Meder; six grandchildren, Eric, Kiana, Emma, Jonathan, Andrew, and Avianna; two brothers and three sisters, Walt Meder, Theresa Watts, Lee Kick, Ray (Marilyn) Meder, and Marie (Jim) Filer; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Evan Meder; sisters, Judy Baker and Inez Pederson; and brother, Wendell Meder. A memorial service will be held at HOLY CROSS LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2670 Milwaukee St., Madison, at 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 19, 2016, with the Rev. Mark Bartels presiding. Coffee and desserts will follow the service. Entombment will be at Highland Memory Gardens at a later date. Visitation will be held at the church from 12 Noon until the time of the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. The family wishes to thank Pastor Bartels and Pastor Tweit of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, and the staff at the UW Hospital American Center and Agrace HospiceCare for all of their wonderful care and support.
