Martin A Burds, Jr.

MADISON/CUBA CITY/DUBUQUE-Martin A. Burds, Jr. age 84, passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2016.  He was born on May 2, 1932, in Peosta, Iowa, the son of Martin A. and Louise L. (Breitbach) Burds.  He married Celeste M. Hansen and together they raised five children.  Martin was a dairy farmer for many years and then started his own business Fan's Inc., a farm animal feed business.  He had a variety of interests, including playing baseball in his younger years and enjoyed many years as a basketball coach and referee.  In his later years, he enjoyed his many coffee social hours with friends. Martin is survived by his wife, Celeste Burds; his children Kimberly (Thomas) Noonan, Middleton, Penny Ann (Peter) Coy, Wheaton, IL., Linda (Joel) Johnson, Ringwood, IL., Perry (Lori) Burds, Eagle, and Heidi Jo Steach, Normal, IL.; six grandchildren Alyssa, Katherine, Drew, Cade, Mackenzie and Marissa.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and five brothers. A Memorial Mass will be held at ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH, 8625Enterprise Drive, Peosta, Iowa at 1 PM on Saturday, September 10, 2016.  Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 12 Noon until the time of the service.
