Obituary
MADISON/WAUNAKEE-Priscilla M. (Acker) Karls, age 94, passed away on Saturday August 20, 2016 at Waunakee Manor Health Care Center. She was born February 12, 1922 in Ashton to Anton J. and Katherine (Kalscheuer) Acker. She married Arnold L. Karls October 28, 1944 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Ashton. They farmed in the Middleton area for over 30 years before moving to Madison. After moving to Madison she became an avid quilter and card player. She loved to cook and bake, especially pies. She was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Middleton and a member of the Cross Plains/Middleton Unit 245 Auxiliary. Priscilla is survived by her children, Larry (Jean)Karls, Barb (Mike) Schutz, Roger (Sheila) Karls; son-in-law, Bob (Jackie) Kruchten; grandchildren, Renee (Brian) Adler, Rodney (Kallina) Karls, Rachel (Alex) Peete, Jennifer (Bryan) Leslie, Brian Schutz, Sarah (Stuart Kimpton) Karls, and Jeffery (Dana) Karls; 11 great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sister, Carrie Meier; sisters-in-law, Sister Stella Marie Karls, Dorothy (Jerry) Maly, Odelia Karls, Mary Ellen Acker; and many nieces and nephews. Priscilla was preceded in death by her husband on October 17, 1996; daughter Kay Kruchten on November 6, 1996; brothers, John (Bernadette) Acker, Albert (Lorraine) Acker, Sylvester Acker; sisters, Dorothy (Leo) Ballweg, Martha (Edmund) Schwarz; and the Karls brothers and sisters-in-law. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at SAINT BERNARD’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7450 University Ave., Middleton, at 11 a.m. on Wed. August 24, 2016 with Fr. Brian Wilk presiding. A visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. A luncheon will immediately follow the service. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials to Middleton Outreach Ministry’s (MOM’s) or to Unit 245 Auxiliary. The family would like to thank the staff at Waunakee Manor for the many years of devoted care and kindness. They would also like to thank Mary Kopp, her roommate, for her kindness, thoughtfulness, and caring of our mother the last five years. We felt you were her guardian angel. Also, a special thank you to aunt Dorothy Maly and Paulyn Ripp for their visits and kindness to our mother.
