Obituary

MADISON-Cynthia Ann Schumacher, age 77, died in the early morning hours of Thursday, August 18, 2016 from Pancreatic Cancer. She went peacefully surrounded throughout the night by treasured friends and family. Even at her weakest moment she was able to show dignity, love and grace, making sure each of us knew how much we were loved. Cynthia was born on December 27, 1938 in Wisconsin Rapids to Bertram and Irene Nason. Cynthia left WI Rapids to pursue a nursing Degree through Madison General Hospital. It was during this time she met her future husband Duane Schumacher and were married on June 8, 1967. Cindy worked at Associated Physicians as an RN until she became a mother in 1969. She worked at home raising three children while supporting Dewey's busy law practice at Dewitt Ross and Stevens. Cindy's favorite pastimes were her kids, friends and reading. Her voracious appetite for reading and books could have filled a small library. There were two places that Cindy enjoyed the most, her home on Lake Mendota and her condo on the gulf in Bonita Springs, FL. The ocean and her Florida friends brought much happiness in recent years. She was a beloved grandmother to her five amazing grandchildren, Caleb, Trevor, Ellie, Jack and Sydney, all of whom have special qualities and talents that she loved to brag about and was so proud of. Cindy is survived by her three children Amy (BJ) Jordan of Fitchburg, Beth (Alex Torres) of Monona and Scott of Middleton; sister, Sarah Nason of Wisconsin Rapids; five grandchildren and lastly her dog Barkley who gave her such comfort and peace. Cindy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Duane (2008) and brother Daniel. Above all, she was a mother, sister, wife, good friend, and the foundation and glue of what makes a family. A special thank you goes out to Noelle LoConte, MD and Sharon Weber, MD at UW Carbone Cancer Center for their attention as professionals and friends to our family. Also, to Carrie Clark, RN at Agrace, whose genuineness and compassion always shines through. There will be a celebration of life held at Louisianne's Etc. in Middleton from 3 pm until 7 pm on Saturday, August 27, 2016. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to express sympathy may consider donations to the UW Carbone Cancer Center: Pancreatic Cancer Research. Mail code 2464, 600 Highland Avenue, Madison WI 53792 or pancan.org. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
