Norma Ruth Ludwig

MONONA/STOUGHTON-Norma R. Ludwig, age 86 of Monona passed away on Sunday, Aug. 7, 2016 at St. Mary's Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 15, 1930, in Centerville, Penn., the daughter of Frank and Emily Briggs. She married Herbert Ludwig on July 8, 1961, in Mauston, Wis. Norma and Herbert moved to Monona, where she started work as a cosmetologist and then transitioned to Madison Kipp Corp. where she worked for over 20 years as a quality control specialist until her retirement. She loved canning, cooking, gardening, sewing, and knitting. Her true passion was her family. She was a dedicated and loving mom and grandma and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Norma is survived by her daughters, Patti (Dan) Wiersma and Jeanann (Ron) Hankel; grandchildren, Kim (Kevin) Mercer, Kelly (Cory) Rehfeldt, Karly (Brian) Fitzgerald, Chelsea (Chris) Mikkelson, Malachi Hankel; five great-grandchildren, Kelsi, Kourtney, Drew, Noelle, and Irene; four step-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; and many other family and friends. Norma was preceded in death by her parents; brother; husband; and daughter. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 2 p.m. on Saturday Aug. 13, 2016, with the Rev. Edward Johnson presiding. Burial will be held at ROSELAWN MEMORIAL PARK at a later date. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 12 noon until the time of service on Saturday. Memorials may be made to St. Stephens Lutheran Church. The family would like to thank St Mary's Hospital, especially Dr. Cowgill, Dr. Hahn, Dr. Waheed, and Dr. Wedding, and nurses Amy, May, Leanne, Shannon, Stacey, Megan, and Anna for the wonderful care.
