Obituary
FITCHBURG-David A. Carr died at home on Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016. The son of James R. and Betty (Fleming) Carr, he was born on Feb. 10, 1954. He married Jo Ann Daly in 1973, she survives. David was a star athlete, musician, and student in high school and was named a National Merit Scholar. His athletic abilities led him to many years of success as a recreational league softball pitcher for the Falcons who played throughout southern Wisconsin. He was an avid fan of NCAA basketball, especially the Indiana Hoosiers, and attended many NCAA Final Four tournaments (even when the Hoosiers did not make the trip with him). David also enjoyed jazz, making numerous trips to the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, and was a member of the Madison Jazz Society. David had a successful career at Swiss Colony (now Colony Brands) beginning as a temporary employee and retiring in 2013 as Executive Director for Resource Planning. In retirement David had lots of fun spending time with his beloved grandsons. David is survived by his daughter, Amelia (partner, Wyatt Johnson); his son, Jasun (spouse, Carmen Febles); his grandsons, Gavin and Konnor; and his granddaughter, Elisa. He is further survived by his brother, Jim (spouse, Sharon); his sister Sandy (spouse, Michael); and his nieces, Emily and Sarah and their families. Also surviving are his aunt, Maxine Bowling; and his uncle, George Boettinger. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved Nana, Martha Alice Fleming; his aunt, Lorene Boettinger; and his uncle, Graham Keesee. Funeral services are pending. A private family service was held. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to New Start (https://www.unitypoint.org/madison/foundation.aspx) or Toys4Tots (http://madison-wi.toysfortots.org/).
