To the man who "straightened me out", I sure will miss your advice and humor.
About 5 years ago you took me aside and explained that it was OK to be sad after the 3 death's I had just gone through. More importantly you explained to me that "every time you think you have it bad, walk around the corner and you will find someone that has it worse." Words I still live by. Already miss your smile and worldly advice. Give Myrtle and Jayne a hug from me in heaven.

We love you Uncle Carl. His gentle laugh, reminiscent of his brother Bob, beloved father and father in-law.
The way he would look you so directly in the eye, and seem genuinely interested in everything you were saying. He was so adept and non complaining about the loss of his legs, I, as a niece in-law didn't even know he had lost them for several years! We even had a dance!
From Ken: When I lost my leg my Uncle Carl called me and boosted my spirits by sharing what lies ahead so far as the "phantom pains". He told me they'd eventually go away, or you'll get used to them....But I'd be able to deal with it. He was a source of strength and inspiration to me!
We will miss you Uncle Carl, and think of you often.

Every now and then in this life, one is honored to meet a true hero. Carl was just that. I first met Carl because of his hearing problem. I don't believe that in my 60 years in the field of audiology, I ever encountered anyone with a more positive, creative attitude about what was a significant hearing problem. The same goes for his war injuries. As a result of those contacts, Carl became a good friend, coming to Waunakee to enjoy Community Band concerts, and a fine meal (Swiss Steak) at Rex's Innkeeper. My wife and I were pleased to join Carl and his wife on some of those occasions. I learned to have tremendous respect for Carl, his outlook on life, his ability to handle adversity and his marvelous sense of humor. We should all aspire to become such a person of strong faith and good citizenship. RIP Carl, you've earned it!

I will always remembere Carl, and Mrytle, with fondness for the lively, smart and fun friendship they so freely shared! I also regard Carl as an inspiring hero! He lived his life fully regardless of the minute by hour by day challenge of walking with 2 prosthesis. I know he gives strength to everyone who knew him or learns of his story! I am very appreciative that Carl and Myrtle have their wonderful daughter, Karen, who cared for them with love and tenderness❤️. Jane and all the folks at Physio Prosthetics.
