MCFARLAND-Thelma L. "Trudy" Stassi, age 84, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2016, at Marianne's Elder Home in McFarland. She was born on Sept. 16, 1931, in Benton Harbor, Mich., the daughter of Guy and Goldie Keith. After Guy passed away, she was adopted by Ernie Swift. Thelma loved Sunday dinners. She was a great cook and enjoyed spending time with her family. Thelma's greatest achievement was raising her family. She was a huge football fan, especially Monona Grove Football and the Green Bay Packers, and playing bingo. Thelma is survived by three children, Tom (Pam) of Waunakee, Mike (Cindy) of Cottage Grove and Colleen (Joe) Seichter of Orfordville; five grandchildren, Kelly (Dan Homburg), Hope, Anthony "T.J.", Katie and Troy; great-grandchild, Sheyna; sister, Helen Swanson; brother, Dennis Swift; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony; and son, Frankie. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at noon, on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. The family would like to thank Mary Lynn Stassi, Lonnie BonoAnno and the staff at Marianne's Elder Home and Agrace HospiceCare for their care and support. I can't believe you are gone. I was so lucky to be able to share 54 wonderful years with you. You were the best aunt ever. I will never forget the fun we used to have together, in the Dells, with you, Tony and us kids. You were a riot. Although I am sad, I know you are now walking arm in arm with Tony on one side and Frankie on the other! I know how happy that makes you. I will miss you more than words can say. I love you Aunt Trudy. Your niece, Mari Lynn.

I will always remember your love of football. I enjoyed watching Monona Grove High School football in a state championship game that was a nail bitter. I adored your sense of humor. Your love for your family is unwavering. Loved hearing stories about your life as a little girl. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your family. I love you. Dear Mrs. Stassi, I am very sorry to have missed your service. You always treated us kids with love and respect, and with a whole bunch of honesty. Talking with you at the Monona Grove 1977 state football championship game, sharing our love for #45, our united heartfelt gratitude when Mike became their head coach. Then after all the shared comments regarding how nervous and scared we were during certain games, God shined on the 2013 Silver Eagles, in spectacular fashion. we shared our love of family at the Hall of Fame. Now you get to go home and see Frankie and Mr. Stassi. Love from your neighbor.
