Obituary

MADISON- Ellen M. Dretzka, age 65, of Madison, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 22, 2016, at her home. She was born on Nov. 11, 1950, in Milwaukee, Wis., the daughter of Dan and Patricia (Hoagland) Kovatovich. She married Michael F. Dretzka on Oct. 11, 1969, in Milwaukee. With her husband she was the owner and operator of Poppa Coronofoulos Restaurant for 17 years in Madison and prior The Main Street Grill in Fort Atkinson for 13 years. After retirement she worked at Ace Hardware in Cottage Grove. Ellen adored her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and baking; she had accumulated an extensive collection of cookbooks. Ellen and her family also enjoyed camping trips in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Ellen is survived by her husband, Michael; daughter, Molly (Joseph) Bruno; son, Samuel; grandchildren, Nicholas Dretzka, Nathan, Jacob, Brady and Niko Bruno, and Bailey (Chris) Wagner; great-grandchild, Tyson Wagner; brother, Dan (Pamela) Kovatovich; sisters, Susan (Bill) Hoyer, Judith (Lew) Gardner, and Peggy Kovatovich; and several other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 1 p.m., on Monday, Aug. 1, 2016, with Chaplain Steve Zwettler officiating. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday. Ellen. A sweet soul. As I approach the new year memories of u of many years past. You were my companion at the Beatles concert in Milwaukee. Beau and I visited u at your restaurant in Fort. U and Mike at our farm in whitewater. Listening to Dustey Springfield in your bedroom as kids. How I regret not keeping our friendship alive rest in peace sister
