MADISON/NEW ORLEANS/CHICAGO-Connie A. Burns, age 68, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2016, at her home peacefully with her family by her side. She was born on July 16, 1948, in Egypt, Miss., the daughter of Webster and Ella Lee White. Connie was united in marriage to Joseph Burns on April 5, 1969, in Argo, Ill. She was a wonderful cook and an avid collector of two dollar bills. Being a special education teacher, Connie was nurturing, patient and kind. She was known to always lend a hand no matter the situation and she loved unconditionally. Connie was also a very simplistic woman; very thoughtful, a great listener and had great insight. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Connie is survived by her husband, Joseph Burns; children, Sheridan Burns, Mary (Gene Jr.) Ward, Sean (Dawn) Burns and Jason (Romaya) Burns; brothers, Webster White III. and Willie White; sisters, Wilma Jean Brooks and Edna Cunningham; grandchildren, Wudenish and Joseph Tilahum, Jason Jr., Jackson and Lailah Burns; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Prince Ella, Loretta Quinn, Ida Langston, Eleanor Simmons and Lolita Veney; and brothers, Page White and David King. Funeral services will be held at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2450 Atwood Ave., Madison, at 11 a.m., on Saturday, July 30, 2016, with Father Michael Radowicz presiding. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in New Orleans, La., at a later date. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., with a rosary at 10:30 a.m. A repast will follow the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.  Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
