Lorraine Moore

MONONA-Lorraine A. Moore, age 97, passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2016. She was born on Dec. 11, 1918, the daughter of Anna (Wills) and O. Melvin Nelson. Lorraine married Donald S. Moore on Dec. 5, 1942, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Madison. She worked for the USDA Forest Products Laboratory, retiring after 30 years of service. Prior to the USDA, she was employed with the private industry for nine years. Lorraine and Don enjoyed traveling to all 50 states, all Canadian Provinces, and nine European countries: England, Ireland, Sweden, Germany, Italy, France, Norway, Switzerland and Denmark. They especially enjoyed the trips that their nieces and nephews were able to join them on. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Daughters of the Nile, and AZBA (Shriner's Widows). Lorraine is survived by three sisters, Dagmar Slinde of Lake Dalton, Wis., Leonette Sprecher of Madison, and Nancy Talbert of McMinnville, Tenn.; two brothers, Thomas Nelson of Madison and Donald Nelson of King, Wis.; and sister-in-law, Helen Allen of Baraboo, Wis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; brothers, Arnold Nelson of Madison, Julian Nelson of Madison, Norman Nelson of Florida, Leonard Nelson of Verona and Milo Nelson of Portage; and sisters, Frances Schulz-Brattlie, and Olga Koberstein. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 11 a.m., on Friday, July 22, 2016. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park at a later date.
