David C. Rogers

MADISON- David Charles Rogers, age 78, of Madison, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 9, 2016, surrounded by his family at home in Madison. He was born on Nov. 21, 1937, in Ridgeland, Wis., the son of Robert and Irma Rogers. He married Marcia Swierzynski on July 12, 1969, in Rockford, Ill., at St. Stanislaus Church. Dave graduated from Barron High School, served in the military, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in electrical engineering. He worked for Hooper Construction for many years. Dave enjoyed time with family, hunting, fishing, bowling, golf, playing bridge, and traveling with Marcia in their RV. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Marcia; three children, David Paul (Cindy Lund) Rogers, Amy Marie (Scott) Veit, and Lisa Jean (Eric) McGlynn; six granddaughters, Abby, Madelyn, Emma, Kate, Grace, and Alexandra; sister, Diane Knoepke; brother, Daniel (Donna) Rogers; brother-in-law, Ray Jarvis; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jim Rogers; sister, Carol Jarvis; brother-in-law, Melvin Knoepke; and sister-in-law, Cora Rogers Mattila. A Celebration of Life will be held at GUNDERSON FITCHBURG FUNERAL HOME, 2950 Chapel Valley Road, Fitchburg, at 12 noon, on Saturday, June 18, 2016, with the Rev. Jerry Amstutz presiding. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. Any memorials received will be given to the Salvation Army per Dave's request.
