Obituary

CROSS PLAINS- Wendy Gail Sindberg, age 54, passed away on Saturday, June 25th from the leukemia that she was diagnosed with just two days prior. Wendy was born in Paris, France on July 30, 1961. She grew up in Middleton and graduated from Edgewood High School. Wendy obtained a Bachelor's Degree from UW-Madison. She developed many amazing friendships over the years while working at Rocky Rococo's, Stonefields, Barnes & Noble, Dean Health Insurance, and, most recently, the University of Wisconsin Medical Foundation. Wendy was known for her infectious laugh, her droll sense of humor, and for her generosity and kindness. She loved old movies, especially Alfred Hitchcock films, Sabrina (the Audrey Hepburn version) and It's a Wonderful Life. Wendy was an avid fan of the Packers and Brewers and, in honor of her 50th birthday, she traveled to Arizona to attend the Brewers' spring training with her brother, Mike, fulfilling a life-long dream. In addition to Mike, Wendy leaves behind her other brothers Dave and Will, her sister, Heidi, sisters-in-law Cheryl and Jamie, and her adored niece, Sarah, as well as many cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ron and Linda Sindberg. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at UW Hospital for their brief but compassionate care. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund will be selected at a later date. Visitation will be from 1:00-3:00 on July 30, 2016 at the Cross Plains Fire Station (1501 Bourbon Road) with a Celebration of Life for family and close friends beginning at 3:00 at the same location.  Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

I met Wendy the very first day she transferred to Edgewood High School -- and at that moment, I knew that I'd met a kindred soul. We did everything together, and if neither of us were home, it was a safe bet that we were at the others' house. She was the kindest, sweetest, most intelligent and funny person! She always knew how to cheer you up, and she rarely showed up anywhere without a smile on her face. The stories we shared, the inside jokes we held and the poetry that she would write always brought a smile to our faces! Our friendship continued into college, and as both of us were musicians. we attended one another's concerts at the UW. Anytime I had something bothering me, I knew that I could go to Wendy about it, and she'd help me make sense of it all. As I moved out of state, we didn't stay in touch very well, but even after not seeing one another for a few years, when we were back together it was constant laughing and giggling. The last time I saw her, as we parted ways, she said, "I love you!" and gave me a big hug. We wrote back and forth for awhile, but life took us to different places, and I'm sorry to say that I was never able to catch up with her again, and that made me so sad. Wendy loved her family, and she and Dave often came as a package -- a wonderful, fun, funny and kind package! She never, ever talked to me about Dave the way most older siblings do -- she never called or treated him like a pesky little brother, and she always spoke of him in the highest regard -- and I know that she loved him and her whole family so very much by the way she fondly spoke of them all. I pray for Dave and his family, and I know how difficult this is for him. Wendy was so special, and she always made those around her feel special, too -- and I know that she held Dave so close in a special part of her heart. I hope that Dave and his family will be able to gain some comfort in the many, beautiful, wonderful memories they hold with and of Wendy. She was a beautiful spirit who will now protect and guide the lives of those she loved -- for those that knew Wendy know what a wonderful and kind person she was, who brought goodness and happiness to all those that she knew.

Wendy transferred out of our class at Middleton High School shortly before graduating and while planning our reunion I was pointed to this article about her and her work. Condolences to the Sindberg family on behalf of The Class of '79. Godspeed.

If I had to sum Wendy up with one word it would be "Family". I've only known her a short time as her coworker (and cubicle neighbor) here at UW- and my love and condolences go out to her wonderful family. Please know she always spoke lovingly and often about you; and was always excited about her plans to be with you. She was kind and helpful to whomever crossed her path. May you find peace in your memories of her. Her boisterous laugh, positive attitude, and wonderful spirit (that smile!) will be missed.

I worked with Wendy at Dean. She was the most kind, caring, and wonderful person I've ever had the pleasure of working with. She had a great, infectious laugh and a beautiful personality. She will be missed.

Wendy & I worked together at Dean Health Plan & we used to eat lunch with a few other people. We would spend the entire time gossiping, telling crazy stories, (most not appropriate for work) & laughing our heads off. After lunch she would give me a giant hug & a kiss on the cheek & that got me ready to take on the rest of the day. She was an amazing friend & I will miss her tons. I will forever hear her laughing to my silly joke's in my head. I will never forget you Sweetie.
