Obituary

MIDDLETON - Walter L. Kratz, age 85, of Middleton, Wisconsin passed away on June 23, 2016 at BrightStar Senior Living in Madison, Wisconsin.  He was born on July 10, 1930 in West Bend, Wisconsin, the son of Walter T. and Lorena (Meier) Kratz.  He married Virginia Bergin on September 3, 1955 in West Bend, Wisconsin.  He is survived by his wife Virginia, daughter Lisa Kratz of Madison and son David (Nancy) Kratz, grandson Steven Kratz, and granddaughter Sarah Kratz of Warrenville, Illinois.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Kathryn Kratz. Walter served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War and played in the 5th Army Band.  Graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in Music Education, and later graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in Architecture & Engineering which led to his career in architecture in the Madison area.  He was a long time member of Bethany United Methodist Church of Madison.  Walter was a devoted husband, loving father, skilled architect, talented artist, scratch golfer, and spirited friend to many.  He will be missed by all. Special thanks goes to the staff of St. Mary's Hospital and Care Center, Agrace Hospice Care, and BrightStar Senior Living for their loving care given to Walter.  A private family service will be held at a later date.  Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
