James Patrick Sweeney

SAUK CITY/MIDDLETON-James Patrick Sweeney passed away in the early morning of Sunday, June 5th after a prolonged illness.  He was born April 2, 1941 to Joseph and Jenny (McCloskey) Sweeney in Madison, the youngest of 6 children.  Jim was a 1959 graduate of Edgewood High School.  He was united in marriage to the love of his life Mary Roudebush in 1982.  Jim was a beloved great-grandfather, grandfather, father, husband and brother.  He was the proud owner and operator of the Old Stamm House in Middleton for over 25 years.  The sale of the restaurant in 1995 and retirement led to his second aspiration at Pleasant View Golf Course.  This allowed him to pursue the things in life he loved the most; family, friends and golf.  Jim always knew how to make us laugh and how to make us think.  He always had a story to tell and great advice to give.  We could always count on him to be there and listen because of his caring and loving heart.  Nothing brought more enjoyment to his life than pulling a prank and making someone smile. Jim is survived by his wife Mary; children, Ron (Mindy), Russ (Vanessa), Mark (Hiroko), Cindy, Shelly (Tony) and James (Jayme) and his many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Don, Verlyn, and Wayne; his sisters Dolly and Kay and his sons Richard and Robert.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7450 University Ave., Middleton at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, June 13, 2016, with Father Brian Wilk presiding.  Visitation will be held on Monday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. We will miss Jim deeply and will never forget his words of wisdom for his high school daughters on their way out for the night... "No booze, boys, drugs, smoking or sex but have a good time".
