Obituary

MADISON-Elizabeth "Betty" Muehlemann, age 94, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on February 23, 1922, in the town of Middleton, the daughter of George and Bertha (Becker) Middleton.   On May 29, 1945 she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Herbert Muehlemann.  Betty was employed with Rennebohm's where she managed the soda fountain. She was a generous soul who gave countless hours volunteering for many organizations including the Oscar Mayer "R.E.A.D.I." Group. Betty was a fabulous cook who will be remembered by her family and friends for the delicious meals and pies she made.  Her family especially loved her macaroni and cheese, goulash and rhubarb pie.  She was an avid sports fan who especially enjoyed Middleton Home Talent, Brewer, Packer and Badger games, bowling, and finding great deals at garage sales, but she truly treasured the time she spent with her family.  Betty is survived by her husband of 71 years, Herbert; her daughters, Jackie (Len) Becker, Jean Muehlemann and Gerry Ross; grandchildren, Sheila, Brian, Brenda, Shannon, Jon, Joie, Jill, Tony and Michael; ten great-grandchildren and her loving sisters-in-law Beulah Muehlemann and Eva Middleton.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving granddaughter, Deanna Ross, brothers, Barney, Harry "Buzz" and George "Bucky" Middleton and three sisters, Mary Brown, Alice Ziegler and Betty Bollenbeck.  Funeral services will be held at ST. LUKE'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 7337 Hubbard Ave., Middleton at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 6, 2016 with the Reverend Heather Hayward presiding.  Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens, Madison.  Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

I will always remember how warmly she would welcome me when we were at family gatherings. She would smile and say, "there's my Annie." She had a big heart and I will miss her dearly.

Mother had a flare for style and always tried to look her best. She loved to shop and spend time with the great grandkids. They in turn appreciated her cooking. How I will miss you mother. Love you forever and ever. Gerry. P.S. tell Deanna, I love her.

We called her Aunt Liz. No one else called her Liz. I was so blessed to have her in my life. We talked on the phone at least once a week. After I lost my mom, Aunt Liz would call to see how my weekend went or how our show turned out, just like my mom had done. She knew how much I missed my mom. Aunt Liz was so special to me. She would tell me how I made her day when, really, she made my day. I will forever be grateful, remember, and love her. How I will miss hearing "Love you, my dear girl." Until we meet again....Laurie Middleton

Another butterfly to watch for in my yard. Aunt Liz was so caring and always wanted to be kept in the loop of whats happening and who is doing what. Now she is gone home to enjoy the next chapter of her life. Thank you for the memories.

Aunt Liz was my dad's best friend (Harry Buzz Middleton), and they talked on the phone almost daily. I often talked to her too, but the conversations became something really deep after my dad died. She had a special understanding of me, and I really appreciated her insights. I married the man of my dreams (John Ebo David) because of her conversation with me about a year ago (undisclosed content here). My dad and I always referred to her as "Aunt Lizard", but we never told her that. Love you Aunt Liz and life will be much less without you.
