Obituary
Madison- Hugh Curley, age 84 of Madison passed away on June 16, 2016. Hugh was born on January 30, 1932 in Scotland, and he married Janet Simpson in 1951. He worked in the coal mines till he came to the United States in 1961, his family joined him 6 months later. Hugh worked for Oscar Mayer for 30 years as a mechanic. When he retired, Hugh and Janet enjoyed traveling to Scotland and Arizona, he also liked playing golf and the bagpipes. Hugh is survived by 3 children, Jim (Pam), Sandra (Jim), and Belinda (Lamont); 4 grandchildren, Beth (Chris), Derek (Christin), Jenni (Chris), and Cameron; 7 great grandkids, Shylo, Derek, Natalie, Nate, Abbey, Sam and Clara. Also surviving in Scotland his brother John (Ivy), and sister Mary (Ronnie). He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet, son Colin, and his brother's Jim and Bill. We would like to thank his special friends Kerry and Maureen. He will be missed by his family and friends. A private service will be held for his immediate family. Hugh is part of a funny incident that I tell about wondering about my sanity when I was hearing bagpipes where no one would expect to hear them. Not playing them but practicing. I was sure relieved when I found they were real. He was a devoted father and will be missed.

I first met Hugh when I started in the Mechanical Dept. at Oscar's. He was assigned to "Break Me In".
He was easy to work with, and he taught me a lot about "Millwright Work. He had a pleasant
personality. We got along great.
He was proud of his Scottish Heritage, and every now and then, you could detect his
Scottish Brogue". He was a true Gentleman. I know the 2nd Shift Gang held him in high
esteem.
Rest well, and may the Bag Pipes echo through out all of Scotland as they say "Farewell"
to their Native Son.

I met Hugh in cardiac rehab at St.Marys Hospital after his heart surgery. I was his therapist and with his sense of humor we bonded immediately. Near the end of his rehab sessions, he brought his bagpipes in and played for all the heart patients and staff. I have a picture of him in action! We ended up staying in touch as I would walk my dog past his house and if he was outside we would chat and catch up. Hugh was the epitome of nice, generous and caring.
