Betty Smith

MADISON/WISCONSIN DELLS-Betty J. Smith, age 66, of Madison, passed away peacefully at Meriter Hospital, on Thursday, June 9, 2016, with her family by her side. She was born on Sept. 18, 1949, in Portage, Wis., the daughter of Mainert and Leona Anderson. Betty was a graduate of Wisconsin Dells High School and attended MATC. She married Jerry Smith on March 1, 1975, at Lakeview Lutheran Church in Madison. Betty worked in banking for 19 years. She loved to travel throughout the world. Betty enjoyed spending time reading and had a passion for crossword and Sudoku puzzles. She treasured her beloved cats and dogs. Betty is survived by her husband, Jerry; sons, Daniel H. Smith and Kevin J. (Tana) Smith; grandchildren, Tyler, Chloe, and Kacy; brothers, Mainert Jr. (Nancy) Anderson and Roger Anderson; sister, Shelly (Glenn) Albright; and an uncle, numerous cousins, and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 3 p.m. on Monday, June 20, 2016, with the Rev. Dean Kirst presiding. Burial will be at Lakeview Lutheran. Visitation will follow the service until 7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
