Caryl Townsend

MADISON/ROSHOLT, SD-Caryl R. Townsend, age 86 of Rosholt, S.D., passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016, at the Northeast Care and Rehabilitation Center in Rosholt. Caryl Rosalia was born July 29, 1929, in Madison, Wis., to Otto and Olivia (Pulvermacher) Rogge. Caryl was baptized and confirmed at St. James Catholic Church in Madison. She graduated from high school in Madison. After finishing school, Caryl worked at Western Union. On June 3, 1950, she married Vernon W. Townsend at St. James Catholic Church in Madison. Vernon passed away in 2005. Caryl enjoyed being a homemaker and doing crafting and quilting. In 2008, she moved to Rosholt, S.D., to live with her daughter. In March 2011, she made her home in the Countryside Inn and in January 2016 moved to the Northeast Care and Rehabilitation Center. Caryl enjoyed attending flea markets and craft fairs. She especially loved spending time with family. Caryl is survived by her daughter, Debra (Myron) Foltz of Rosholt; granddaughter, LeeAnne Foltz; great-grandchildren, Bianca Foltz, Byranna Knutson and Jenna Foltz; great-great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Kye Foltz; and sisters, Arlene Mauel of Verona, Wis., and Judy Reis of Madison. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon; son, Gary; grandson, Chris Foltz; and sisters, Lucille Bailey and Joan Ream. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, June 11, 2016, with Father Randy Timmerman officiating. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Ronald Bailey, Matthew Jensen, Joe Jensen, David Mauel, Jeff Mauel and Greg Mauel. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, June 10, 2016, and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
