Daniel R. "Dan" Oasen

MADISON/SUN PRAIRIE-Daniel R. "Dan" Oasen passed away on Monday, June 6, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on Jan. 2, 1954, in Madison, the son of Robert and Beatrice (Longland) Oasen. Dan graduated from Madison East High School with the class of 1972. As a young man, he worked beside his father at Oasen Plumbing, drove truck long distance and later, drove locally for Capital Cartage. He recently retired from a career as a maintenance mechanic for Dane County. Dan gave a great deal of time and effort to help others through both the VFW and American Legion. He was an active member of the Men's Auxiliary for VFW Post No. 8483 and was the past Post Commander of the Sons of the American Legion Post No. 481. Dan enjoyed fishing and hunting with his beloved dog, Scout, and attending car shows with his Grand Prix, and even owned an awesome Road Runner for a while. Dan was a great storyteller and loved to laugh and see others enjoying life. He also loved his parents and brother and made sure they were well taken care of. Dan is survived by his brother, Dennis Oasen; aunts, Donna Anderson and Louise Oasen; and many family and friends, including Tom Endres and Bob Poole. He was preceded in death by his parents; aunt, Barbara (Marvin) Hohlstein; and uncles, John Oasen and Andy Anderson. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 11:30 a.m., on Friday, June 10, 2016, with the Rev. Susan Schneider presiding. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
