Sophia A. Burhop

LODI/SAUK CITY- Sophia A. Burhop, age 84, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2016, at Our House Assisted Living in Lodi.  She was born on June 26, 1931.  The daughter of David and Evelyn (Brace) Thistle.  She married Donald Burhop on March 3, 1951.  Along with her husband Donald, they owned and operated Burhop's Lakeside Lodges in Okee from 1968 to 1998.  She is survived by her children Suzanne (Phil) Smedema of Green Bay, Richard (Kathryn) Burhop and Russell Burhop both of Lodi; her granddaughters, Krista, Amy, Jennifer, Shannon, Kelli, Kari, Jamie and Erica; 14 Great Grandchildren and her sister-in-law Dorothy (Thistle) Weber.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald in 2005; her brother, Lloyd Thistle and her sister, Alice Freiberg.  Funeral Services will be held at GUNDERSON LODI FUNERAL & CREMATION CARE, 157 S. Main St., at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2016 with Reverend Ryan Rouse presiding. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
