Mary Alice Gillaum

MADISON-Mary A. Gillaum, age 50, of Madison, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2016, at St. Mary's Hospital. She was born on Nov. 5, 1965, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Clarence Jr. and Clearolie M. Johnson. Mary married Darryl Gillaum on March 12, 1995, in Madison. Mary was active in community affairs. She loved to cook and watch T.V. Mary was everybody's momma and she lived her life for her grandkids. Mary is survived by her husband, Darryl Gillaum; children, Shawn Sykes, Sharon Frills, and Tryphenia (fiancé, Ferris Lucas) Sykes; grandchildren, Taariq, King, Malik, Saladin, Prince, Sharaven, and Cornell; mother, Clearolie M. Johnson; siblings, Minnie Jackson, Florida (Forest) Willis, Pearline (Bennett) Graves, Larry (fiancée, Lorretta Burns) Johnson, Prancey (Johnny) Willis, Arlene (Johnny) Moffett, Clearolie Johnson, James (Stacey) Johnson, Denise Johnson, Irene Dunlap, Alvin Moore, Lisa Moore, and Marvin (Holly) Moore; sisters-in-law, Catherine Johnson, Christine Robinson, Sharon Gillaum, and Vanessa Gillaum; brothers-in-law, James Robinson, Robert Ousley, Curtis Ousley, and Larry Gillaum; very special uncle and aunt, Johnny and Barbara Jean Johnson; and many other aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Momma's adopted sons, William Wright and Steve Johnson. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Shayrae; father, Clarence Jr.; brother, Henry L. Johnson; brothers-in-law, Milton Dunlap and Marion Jackson; brother, Clarence Johnson III; and nephew, Antwon Gillaum. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON FITCHBURG FUNERAL HOME, 2950 Chapel Valley Rd., Fitchburg, at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, with the Rev. Duane Clay presiding. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens, Madison. Following the burial a repast will be held at the funeral home. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17, 2016, and from 12 Noon until the time of the service on Wednesday.
