Obituary
MADISON-Wayne Lester Bender, age 57, of Madison, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 30, 2016, at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg, after complications of ALS. He was born on July 28, 1958, in St. Louis, Mo., the son of Kenneth and Donna (Lewin) Bender. Wayne attended the University of Missouri-Columbia. He owned and operated an auto parts store in St. Louis. Later, Wayne moved to the Barrington, Ill. area where he had a small farm and worked in auto service. He went on to sell fire alarm and security systems, having both local and national accounts. In 1993, he moved to Madison where he continued his sales, adding auto petroleum and related products in southwest Wisconsin and other sales ventures. Wayne was a hardworking man who loved to work and be around people. He was a caring and selfless person and always found a way to touch the lives of everyone around him. Wayne had a passion for sports, coaching, outdoors, politics, and business. Wayne is survived by his sweetie, Marce Folk; his children, Jessica (Maulik) Patel, Bryan (Kristi), and Mitchell; siblings, Scott (Chari) Bender, Susan (Mick) Noce, and Christopher Mann; nephews and niece; step-mother, Judy; Marce's family; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister-in-law, Stephanie Mann. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON FITCHBURG FUNERAL HOME, 2950 Chapel Valley Road, Fitchburg, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2016, with the Rev. Tom Moe presiding. Private family interment will be at a later date. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to:

I met Wayne in 1987 when I went to work at Motor Werks of Barrington...I was the new kid on the block...he took me under his wing and helped me make the transition to this new and novel idea of a huge
indoor auto mall...he was a bright spirit and had a great sense of humor and never took himself too seriously....his hair was dark back then, and we used to joke about going bald....we bonded rather quickly, and worked together very well. He was always even tempered in the a crisis situation, and a delight to work with, We bonded well and had each other's back..I will miss him....the world lost a great man today...he was a shining light that blew out too soon....RIP Wayne..you will be missed and loved by many

Wayne would always stop and play with our dog Max .When we lived on the corner of Fair Oak and N Fair Oak Rd. I don't know who would get tiered first Wayne from throwing the ball so much or Max fetching the ball. Max was always ready to play ball when Wayne showed up. RIP my friend you will be missed so much !!

Marce and family,
I met you while attending the ALS support groups. Although I haven't been there in a while, I think of all you often. I will always remember you and Wayne. Some things come in between people and some things connect you with others. I have been blessed to have had the chance to meet you during your journey. May he now rest comfortably and be at peace. Cherish the memories you have. God Bless you and your family.
A very tough disease. My sister lost her ALS battle 2 years ago at the young age of 47.
