Obituary

MIDDLETON/ASHTON-Leo D. "Lefty" Ziegler, age 89, passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. He was born on August 14, 1926 in Middleton the son of Mathias and Anna (Kalscheur) Ziegler. Leo farmed in the Ashton area all of his life. He was united in marriage to the love of his life Jeanette Bowar on May 17, 1952 in Pine Bluff, sharing almost 64 wonderful years together. Leo enjoyed playing ball for the Ashton Home Talent League and the Springfield Old Timers. He was an avid Packers and Badgers fan, loved playing cards with the guys and enjoyed the "Mollie B Polka Party". Leo was a lifetime member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and was on the Middleton Co-op Board for over 30 years. He is survived by his loving wife Jeanette; his children, Sandy (Terry) Kleisch, Randy (Susan) Ziegler, Shirley (Mark) Bradley, Rick (Annie) Ziegler, Reg (friend, Kristi) Ziegler and Ron (Shelly) Ziegler; 13 grandchildren, Kurt, Keith, Melissa, Matt, Mitch, Stacy, Taylor, James, Ryan, Hailey, Lucas, Adam and Nathan; five great-grandchildren, Zeke, Kole, Jackson, Jude and Cecilia; a sister, Mary Jane Vosen; sisters-in-law, Mary Ellen Acker and Marie Ziegler and in-laws, Betty Kessenich, Duane (Ruth) Maly, Mary Ann (Jim) Connors, Anna Belle Bowar and Gwen (Bill) O'Connor. Leo was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Albin, Ray, Vincent and Louie; sisters, Marcella, Charlotte, Eleanor, and Evie; in-laws, Dorothy Ziegler, John Wagner, Ted Lauber, Alden Reinke, Delven Vosen, Jerry Kessenich, Willie Bowar, Donnie Bowar, Jerome (Ada) Bowar and Florentine (Joe) Borrelli. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. PETER'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7121 CTY K, Ashton at Noon on Saturday, May 7, 2016 with Father Tait Schroeder presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9 AM until the time of the service at the church. I am sorry for your loss. Lefty was a wonderful person and will be missed by all. I enjoyed talking with him when I was farmering and had to pick up oil from him. God Bless, the Ackers (Scott and LeAnn)
