Erna L. Hazard

MADISON/POYNETTE-Erna Leona Hazard, age 97, of Madison and Poynette, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2016, in Cuba City, Wis. She was born on Oct. 10, 1918, in Carson, N.D., the daughter of Fred and Magdalena (Wuest) Finck. Erna left North Dakota in 1937 and married Howard Nelson Hazard on Sept. 12, 1940, in Madison, Wis. Erna will always be remembered for her strong work ethic. She worked for over 30 years as a meat wrapper for various grocery stores. Moreover, she devoted countless hours to the family orchard. Erna was an excellent cook and baker, and she loved crocheting, reading and watching Wheel of Fortune. She was dearly loved by her family and will be greatly missed. Erna is survived by her daughter, Rose (William) Jackson; son, Charles (Barbara) Hazard; daughter-in-law, Kathy Hazard; grandchildren, Anne (Eric) Jaeckel, Cari Jackson, Kirsten (Steven) Johnson, Chris (Michelle) Hazard, Ben (Paula) Hazard, Audra (Ian) Wood and Nichole (Oren) Nissim; and great-grandchildren, Noah and Sophie Shore, Matthew and Nathaniel Kim, Riley and Sydney Hazard, Arin and Abigail Nissim, and Jacob Hazard. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard Nelson; siblings, Raphael, Harry, Elmer, Nathan, Emmanuel, Emil, and Bernice; and her son, Howie Hazard.
