Obituary

COTTAGE GROVE - Alice Lauretta Grosse, age 90, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, on Sunday, May 1, 2016. She was born on Jan. 22, 1926, in Sandusky Wis., the daughter of Homer and Hazel (Dwyer) Hart. Alice and Vernon were married 69 years and raised seven children; four daughters and three sons. Alice was a very devout Catholic and a faithful member of St. Patrick Church. She enjoyed meeting with her bible group, watching Brewer games, reading and following political issues. Most of all she looked forward to the holidays and spending time with family and friends. Alice was a very kind and gentle soul, with a loving and generous heart. Alice is survived by her husband, Vernon; daughters, Joan (Dale) Huston, Diane Gilbert, Kathleen (Mike) Grosse and Mary Smolarek; sons, John (Donna) Grosse and Jeffrey Grosse; ten grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Philip; sister, Marlene Cizmowski; and two brothers, Marvin and Lyle. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. PATRICK CATHOLIC CHURCH, 434 North Main St., Cottage Grove, at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, May 10, 2016, with Father Michael Tarigopula presiding. A private burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens following the service. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Mary's Hospital, Agrace HospiceCare and Oak Park Place for mom's care and accommodating the family during that emotional time. You have all helped us so much in her final journey. Mother you have left us with such wonderful memories that will remain in our hearts forever. We love and will miss you so much.
