Obituary

MIDDLETON-Lorraine Ann (Simon) Hellenbrand, age 91, went to meet her Almighty Father and joined her husband LaVerne in eternal life on Sunday, April 10, 2016, at Heritage Senior Living in Middleton.  She was born on March 23, 1925 to John and Emma (Schmitt) Simon in Springfield Corners.  She grew up in Springfield Corners, attended St. Martin's Parochial School and graduated from Middleton High School with the class of 1942.  After her high school graduation, she worked for the Wisconsin Telephone Company for five years.  She was married to LaVerne Hellenbrand on April 21, 1949 in St. Martins Catholic Church in Martinsville.  After her marriage she became a full time homemaker for LaVerne and her four sons.  They lived in Springfield Corners until moving to Middleton in 1974.  Lorraine loved to bake and never a day went by without something homemade coming out of the oven.  She was an avid sports fan of her husband's, son's, and grandson's athletic teams (thousands of games) over the years, as well as a Packer, Brewer and Badger fan.  Lorraine is survived by her four sons, James (Nancy), Dudley (Cherie), Darrell (Alice), all of Middleton and Brian of Monroe; ten grandchildren, Kristin (Chad), Erik (Lindsey), Ross (Sarah), Casey, Kayley, Melinda, Mackenzie (Andrew), Brandon (Lindsey), Chase, Cade and five great-grandchildren, with another due in June.  Lorraine is further survived by four sisters, Emogene (Vern) Frederick, Elaine Busch, Diana (Bill) Scherer, and Judy (Paul) Olson, as well as in-laws, Greg Dahmen, Dolores Simon, Alice Simon, Bea Hellenbrand and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband LaVerne in 1995, brothers Jack and Stanley  Simon, sisters, Magdalen Luxton, Mary Ann Dahmen, Donna Statz, Marlene Endres, in-laws Roland Luxton, Marland Busch, Fred Statz, Arnold Endres, Florentine and Edward Adler, Roman and Margaret Hellenbrand, and Sylvester Hellenbrand.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7450 University Ave., Middleton at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2016 with Father Brian Wilk presiding.  Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum, Madison.  Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL & CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Ave., Middleton from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 and also at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services. The family would like to thank Heritage-Middleton, Sienna Crest Assisted Living, Waunakee Manor, for the time she spent there, as well as Agrace Hospice Care, Inc., Home Health United, and Dr. David Cooper and nurses at Dean-West Internal Medicine for their loving and compassionate care of our mother over the years.   Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
