Mary Jo Ellen Kreger

JANESVILLE/MADISON- Mary Jo Ellen Kreger, age 86, died peacefully with her granddaughter at her side on Monday, March 14, 2016, at Sienna Meadows Memory Care in Oregon, following an eight-year struggle with Alzheimer's. She was born Aug. 31, 1929, in Madison, the daughter of Daniel Webster and Kathryn Mercedes (Coffey) Clark. Mary Jo was confirmed and graduated from St. James Catholic School in Madison. She was united in marriage to Ervin Harold Kreger at St. James Catholic Church on April 23, 1949, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 14, 1993. Mary Jo was an employee at the Social Security Administration in Madison from 1956 until her retirement in 2004. She very much enjoyed her work and the many relationships formed over those 48 years. Mary Jo is survived by her daughter, Linda (Steve) Madaus of Orlando, Fla.; three grandchildren, Robert (Julie) Speropulos of Evansville, Tammy (Brian) Uhl of Oregon and Peter (Tricia) Speropulos of Marshall; great-grandchildren, Hunter Speropulos, Kathryn, Elizabeth and Adam Uhl and Nathan and Tyler Speropulos; brother, James (MaryAnn) Clark of Waunakee; sister-in-law, Ardis Clark of Mineral Point; and nieces, nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ervin; and a brother, Darrell Clark. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Rd., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 18, 2016, with Father Randy Timmerman presiding. Burial will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be at church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Friday. Memorials may be directed to Alzheimer's and Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin or Agrace HospiceCare.
