Obituary

MADISON— Marjorie Mae (Sedlmayr) Tyler, age 93, passed away on Wed. April 27, 2016, in her home. She was born on July 9, 1922, in Bagley, the daughter of George and Mayme (Klein) Sedlmayr. Marjorie married her high school sweetheart, Lawrence (Toby) Tyler and they celebrated 72 years of marriage together before his passing in 2013. Marjorie was a home-maker in her earlier years of marriage. In addition to raising her 4 children, she planted gardens, canned fruits and vegetables yearly, and sewed clothes for her children. When all the children were school age, she worked as a night fountain manager at Rennebohm Drug Store until she attended MATC and received her A.A. degree and Licensed Practical Nurse training. She was employed at Mendota Mental Health Institute for 23 years until she retired. Family was very important to her and there was always an outing to go to. Husband Toby played baseball and softball and she always packed a picnic lunch and made each game a special occasion for the family. She was instrumental in planning family reunions, usually attended by around 50 members. These reunions were often at a sandbar with water skiing, picnics and swimming, at a shelter in the park playing softball and tennis, at a relative's home, or even at a hotel. She enjoyed hunting and fishing with her husband and other family members. She started golfing after retirement and won many trophies and plaques in the senior division. Other hobbies included cross-country and downhill skiing and she always had some little art project going. Marjorie's faith was a mainstay throughout her life and the family attended Holy Cross Lutheran Church for 60 years. Two of her children attended Madison Lutheran Grade School and two children attended Bethany Lutheran College. She gathered her family together for family devotions. She lived her faith. Her love, devotion and compassion were shared with all she met. She will always be remembered for her sweet smile, encouraging nature, great sense of humor, love and faith. Though she will be missed here on earth, we look forward to joining her and other loved ones in heaven. Marjorie is survived by her daughters, Lois (Roland) Reinholtz, Kay Jimenez and Donna Akers; son, Lawrence (Aline) Tyler; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and three great- great-grandchildren; her sister, Trudie Konicek; and good friend, Nona Hagel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Toby; her parents; four brothers; a sister; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at HOLY CROSS LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2670 Milwaukee St., Madison, Wis., on Saturday, May 7, 2016, at 4 p.m. with Pastor Mark Bartels presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 3 p.m until the time of the service on Saturday. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
