Obituary
MONONA/MARSHALL—Gerald "Gerry" Ehlenfeldt, age 95, of Monona, passed away on Monday, April 25, 2016, at Agrace HospiceCare. He was born on Aug. 21, 1920, in Waterloo, Wis., the son of Louis Ehlenfeldt and Genevieve Krause. He married Virginia Riege in June 1944, whom he later divorced. Gerry moved to Madison in 1952 and started to work at the Wisconsin Foundry as a machinist. He then married Evelyn Niles on June 17, 1978, in Belleville. Gerry retired in 1986 and continued to enjoy many activities. He enjoyed growing raspberries, fishing, hunting, cooking, working on machines, tinkering, and farming. He also enjoyed world travel, especially to the Holy Lands. Gerry is survived by his wife, Evelyn, of 37 years; daughter, Janet Almond of Madison; son, Donald (Karen) Ehlenfeldt of Cottage Grove; step-children, Lisa (Jimmy) Thompson of Westfield, Kevin (Teri) Taylor of Windsor, and Christopher Taylor of Monona; seven grandchildren, Anne (Joel) Gunn and Angie Ehlenfeldt, Jessica Thompson and Justin Thompson, and Reece Taylor, Kinley Taylor, and Thayoden Taylor; five great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Landyn Gunn, Jaelyn Maslowski, and Bella and Paityn Thompson; sister, Rita Gavinski; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Genevieve; brother, Wilfred; sister, Kathryn O'Neil; two nieces; a great nephew; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m., on Saturday, April 30, 2016, with Chaplain Stephen Zwettler presiding. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday and from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, April 29, 2016. Memorials may be made to Agrace HospiceCare. We had fun in Branson, Love the time when the table raised up to my chin all Gerry could do is laught at me, how he loved to beat me at cards too so much fun. Oh how he will remain with us in our heart and will look out for us now,love to Evelyn and his family always .
