Joan Miller was a kind loving person who spent her life helping others. As a couple, she and her husband Earl were close to my parents, Vernon and Suzanne Berkey. Our family called them Aunt Joan and Uncle Earl. I have very fond memories at their house on the Lane in Pittsburg, Kansas. Joan was a great cook and liked to entertain at home. We had great times together riding up to Lawrence and back for the KU football games and tailgate lunches. Dad, Earl and my brother hunted quail together. Many good times at the Club... I love you Aunt Joan.

Judith, sad to hear your Mother had passed, she was one real lady. Jim and I thought the world of your Mother and Dr. Earl. Miss all the wonderful little dinner parties around the pool. I don't know if you know but Jim passed away Aug 21 2015...now your Mom can fix him some of that great tomato juice she make (she finally gave me the recipe). I got to have a good visit with her about a week before she left Pittsburg. Please know my thoughts are with you and your family. Love , Jude Holley Rhodes

Judith,
Please accept the Miller family's deepest sympathy with the passing of Joan. She was an elegant lady and such a good friend of our mother Dotty. We always enjoyed having her in the football suite at Carnie Smith Stadium. She was a joy to be around. You and the extended family will be in our thoughts and prayers.

My condolences to you and your family Judith. Joan was a very special and very interesting lady. I loved to hear her stories about England and how she met your dad, Earl. She was a dynamic person who shared her joy of life with everyone and a great cook. She holds a special place in many peoples lives. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

It is with such sadness to learn Joan has passed away. She was a wonderful person. We met in 1969 when she and Doctor Miller would visit Michael in Lawrence & attend KU football games. We were in touch for 45 years with cards and visits on College Terrace when I was visited Pittsburg over the years. My sincere condolences to the family. Ken Terlip
