June 11, 1930 - March 05, 2016
Obituary
On March 5th 2016 June Edith Squirrell passed away in her home in Madison, Wisconsin. She was born on June 11th 1930 in Plumsted, England, the daughter of Edith Joyce (Raspbarry) and John Vincent George Russell. As a young teenager during World War II, June carried dispatches by bicycle between two large armament factories. She was a wonderful wife to John William Squirrell , whom she met 71 years ago, and they were married on September 2nd, 1950. June is survived by her husband, John, and their three children, Clive Owen Squirrell, Angela Maureen Kuskie and Jayne Marilyn Squirrell. She is also survived by her five half-brothers, Malcom, Keith, Gary, John and Stephen. She was preceded by her brother, John William George Russell. She had 4 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. June will return home to England, with inurnment of ashes at the Thanet Crematorium in Margate, England (date yet to be determined). The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in June's name either to your local hospice or to Agrace HospiceCare (http://www.agrace.org)
June came to the United States in 1967 with her husband and family, briefly to New Jersey then to California and finally to Wisconsin. She was an exceptional seamstress, starting out in the dressmakers' shops in London as a teenager. In addition to making clothing and costumes, she was an accomplished quilt maker and also enjoyed yarn crafts. She also loved flowers and enjoyed gardening and dancing. She was very creative, more than she would give herself credit for. She was humble, loving, caring and compassionate – adored and respected by all who met her. Her physical presence will be missed but her warmth and the memories she has left will be with us always.

We only knew June for a short time but we quickly came to enjoy the time we had with her as neighbors. We talked about flowers and gardens, houses and families. We were amazed when we got to see June and John's family photos particularly the photos of them when they were married - such youngsters. In a funny way, seeing those photos reminded us of how precious are own bond is and we will remember that forever. Hugh & Vicky

I 'met' June through our mutual family history research. Although I never did get to meet her I did get to chat with her on the phone and exchange many an email over the years. I'm eternally grateful for the photo's and stories she shared about our Raspbarry family history and am so very glad I got the oppurtunity to have known her. Susan D'Ott

Whenever I picture my Auntie June, I always picture her smiling, and always will. Although I was only around 7 years old when my Auntie June left Britain for America with my Uncle John, and cousins, Clive, Angela and Jayne, my lasting memory of her is of a kind, warm person with a ready smile. She was a very good friend and sister-in-law to my Mum, who sadly passed away a number of years ago, and I would like to think they will now meet up and enjoy each others company once again.
Sending love and condolences to Uncle John, Angela, Clive and Jayne.
Night night Auntie June xx
