Obituary
MADISON- Leonard B. Bollig, age 96, passed away on March 18, 2016, at St. Mary's Care Center in Madison. He was born on December 19, 1919, in Cross Plains, the son of Fred and Clara (Brunner) Bollig. He was a veteran of World War II having served in Africa as Staff Sergeant in the US Army Air Corps. Leonard married Delores Acker on June 4, 1946, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Ashton. He owned a service station and worked as an auto mechanic in Madison and Black Earth, and as a maintenance mechanic at the Baraboo Powder Plant and the Waunakee Canning Co. Leonard enjoyed working on steam engines, fishing and was a great story teller. He was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Middleton and the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his son, Steve Bollig of Woodstock, IL.; six daughters, Bonnie (Geoff) Harrington of Ridgefield, CT., Barb (Steve) Pitterle of St. Germain, Lorraine (friend, Bill Lang) Bollig of Cross Plains, Bev (Ed) Kekec of Frontenac, MO, Patty Peterson of Windsor, and Debra (Dave) Keller of Madison; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Delores; his parents; an infant brother, Otto; an infant son, Joseph; a son-in-law, Dave Peterson; brothers, Robert, Herbert, Edward and Raymond; and sisters, Katie Kalscheur, Theresa Ripp and Mary Haack. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. PETER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7121 Hwy. K, Middleton, at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 29, 2016 with Father Tait Schroeder presiding. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL HOME, 7435 University Avenue, Middleton, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2016 and also at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday. Inurnment will be at St. Peter's Cemetery in Ashton after the service with Military Rites. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude for care received in Leonard's last years at St. Mary's Care Center.
