Obituary
MADISON-Josephine P. Fine, age 81, of Madison, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 13, 2016, at her home. She was born on March 30, 1934, in Mineral Point, the daughter of Russell and Loretta Benson. She married her high school sweetheart, Donald Fine on Nov. 7, 1953, in Mineral Point. After moving to Madison, Josephine worked at La Follette High School for 25+ years. She started in the kitchen and worked her way up to secretary for the principal, until her retirement in 1991. Josephine and Don were known for hosting pool parties in their backyard oasis. She was often found sipping brandy near the pool or playing cards with her bridge and Euchre clubs. She loved the Badgers and Packers, and enjoyed listening to Brewer games on the radio. Her true passion though, was her husband and two sons. She was a loving and generous mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed. Josephine is survived by her husband, Don; sons, Jeff (Teri) and Jay (Nancy Smithback); brother, William Benson; grandsons, Toby Adams and Dustin Fine (fiancée Sarah Miller); great-granddaughter, Genna Adams; as well as several of Don's siblings; and many other friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her parents; and many relatives. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at noon, on Monday, March 21, 2016, with Pastor Dawn Ramstad presiding. Burial will follow the service at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday. She was always so nice when I went into the office and always friendly when we seen her around the neighborhood. RIP Mrs. Fine. Thoughts to all

Jo took care of me as I started my administrative career at LaFollette High School. She showed me the way things were done and helped me organize my days. She helped with the kids who were called in and I talked too much so the students would stack up in the office. She was great dealing with them. Jo was a wonderful caring person. I am sorry that I can not participate in honoring her at her funeral because my wife and I are in Florida for the winter. My deepest sympathy to Don and the boys and the entire family. Jo will always be a part of my finest memories.

My condolences to Jeff, Jay and your family. I had many opportunities to talk to your mom during our years at Lafollette as you know. It wasn't by choice that we had to go that office during those days, but she always had a way of brightening up our experiences in 'the office' and have fond memories of her. I know she will be missed by you. My sincere condolences.

We have so many good memories of Donald and Josephine playing cards at the fun-filled Fine reunions. What a great aunt. She always had kind words to say to everyone. She was such a classy lady!

I'm so sorry Don, Jeff and Jay. Jo was always a happy, calm, thoughtful and fun lady....what greater things can you say about someone? One goofy memory I have is when my mom (neighbor Joyce/Butch Butler) told me to run over and give Ginger a message. So I knocked on your door and your mom, kindly, brought your dog Ginger to the door to hear the message. Jo chuckled, knowing the message was really meant for Ginger Foster, your next door neighbor lady! I always thought Jo and Don were a striking couple, tan and elegant. May you find peace, Kris (Osterloth) Wigdal
