Nancy H. Ferencek

MADISON/STRATFORD, CONNECTICUT- Nancy Ferencek, age 87, died on March 9, 2016. Nancy was born on Dec. 14, 1928, in Bridgeport, Conn., the only child of Kenneth and Ellen (MacDonald) Haight. She married William Ferencek in 1948 and they raised two sons, Kenneth and Gary in Stratford, Conn. Nancy and Bill moved to Madison in 1997 to be near their son, Kenneth, daughter-in-law, Marcia and their two beloved granddaughters, Ellen and Grace. She was a graduate of Bassick High School. Nancy was a stay-at-home-mom when her children were young, and later did piece work at General Electric to save for her son's college education. Many knew her as a school secretary at Bunnell and Stratford High Schools, where she was employed for more than twenty years. Nancy was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and good friend to many, especially her mother, Ellen, who lived with Nancy and family throughout her life. Nancy enjoyed life with a positive attitude, and lots of energy and humor. A kind and caring neighbor, Nancy was affectionately known as "The Angel of William Street". Nancy is survived by her son, Kenneth (Marcia Standiford); and granddaughters, Ellen and Grace. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; and son, Gary. A funeral service will be held at DENNIS AND D'ARCY FUNERAL HOME, 2911 Main St., Stratford, Conn. (Phone: 203-375-0798) at 1:30 p.m., on Saturday, April 2, 2016. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
