Andrew - I am so sorry for your loss. I remember the pain of losing daddy and there really are no words that I can remember that helped me through the grief. I can only tell you what helped me and it was to keep busy and take one day at a time. My calendar became "before daddy died" and "after daddy died." I suspect it will be the same for you. You know how much she adored you and I know she will be watching over you. She was a faithful follower of Christ, so rest knowing she is blissfully content with Him, Grandma, Grandaddy, and my daddy. Do what she would want you to do . . . remember her, but live happily. You will be in my prayers. I will pray for your peace. Sending my love . . . your cousin, Jennifer

Dear Andrew--Don and I are very sorry for your loss of your remarkable mother. Many years ago, when we were newly-married, we each lost our fathers, who died within a year of each other. Both dads final illnesses were prolonged before they were released to a better place. What enabled us to get through losing them was the belief that in that better place, they were young, strong, and healthy again, and reunited with our mothers. Avanell may be gone but she will live on in your heart and in the hearts and memories of everyone who loved her.
Love,
Don and Elizabeth Martiniak

Andrew,
These words comforted me when I lost my Mom:
I am standing upon the seashore. A ship, at my side, spreads her white sails to the moving breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength.
I stand and watch her until, at length, she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other. Then, someone at my side says, "There, she is gone."
Gone where?
Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast, hull and spar as she was when she left my side. And, she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port.
Her diminished size is in me -- not in her.
And, just at the moment when someone says, "There, she is gone," there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout, "Here she comes!"
And that is dying...
My deepest condolences.
Steve
