Obituary
MADISON/MCFARLAND-John A. "Jack" Goddard, age 77, of McFarland, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2016, at home surrounded by his family. He was born on Sept. 6, 1938, in Madison, the son of William and June Goddard. Jack married Marlene Cook in 1959, in Baraboo. While in Baraboo, Jack worked in the family business, Baraboo Printing Co., was in the U.S. Navy and a member of the Elks Lodge No. 688. He shared his love for the outdoors and taught his kids how to fish, water ski and snow ski. After moving to Madison, Jack continued his career in the printing industry and worked for Widen Colorgraphics before starting his own business in the graphic arts, Goddard and Daughters. He and his wife built their dream home on Lake Waubesa where he enjoyed his love for the water, sunset cruises and delicious fish fry. Jack found great joy sitting by the bonfire overlooking the lake laughing and sharing stories with his family and friends. He was very proud of his kids and grandkids and encouraged them to do the things they loved. Jack will be remembered by his family and friends for making people smile with his sense of humor and kind heart. Jack is survived by his four children, Mona Wells of Bonita Springs, Fla., Mary Beth Goddard of Monona (Michael Margetis), Marie Goddard of Merrimac and John W. Goddard of Lake Delton; three grandchildren, Matthew Wells, Michael Wells and Alex Goddard; many grand-pets; one sister, Mary Larson of Lake Delton; and his aunt, Pauline Baryenbruch of Fla. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Marlene. A Celebration of Life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5, 2016, followed by military rites at 7 p.m. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

I am so very sorry for your loss, you are all in my thoughts and prayers. I have many fond memories of our families getting together often through our parents friendship. It has been some time, but always remember how very kind & sweet you all were, and the friendship you shared with my parents. May the love you are surrounded with from family & friends help comfort you during this time.

My Company had many occasions to collaborate with Jack and his daughters over the years in our shared printing and digital ventures. A truly nice family, and the home office on the lake was truly
peaceful. A sweet man. Condolences to your family.

Dear Mary, Mona, Marie and John,
My thoughts and prayers and with you guys. Your Dad was always so funny and he just loved me! LOL. Everytime I called to talk to Mary and he would answer, I would end up talking to him sometimes longer than with Mary! He always wanted to know "what I was up to now" and always had a little joke or story to tell. I know he was so proud of all you. Love you! Vickee (Staehler)

Bob and I were so very sorry to hear of Jack's passing. Our most sincere condolences to his entire family. We worked with Jack many years ago at Straus Printing. He was always great to be around, such a terrific sense of humor--he could always bring a smile or make you laugh. We were all pretty young then, but looking at his picture here, not much has changed, just the hair color! He was a wonderful friend and talented individual. Bob and Chris Keller
